How I ditched MAINSTREAM social media engagement tactics for authentic connection and created my real projector social media strategy
This is part 2 of my 8-part (Mental) Projector business experiment series where I’m ditching strategies that drain me and rebuilding around my authentic design.

There was a time when I tried it.
I was working with this business mentor who was brilliant at what she did, but she was pushing one specific way of marketing: Instagram reels + Facebook ads + “comment INFO” funnels. (Pls note that I used different words than just “info” but for the simplicity of this projector social media strategy part of my experiment, lets just keep it there.)
At the time, my Instagram was actually growing pretty well. The strategy seemed simple enough: create a compelling reel, invite people to comment INFO for a freebie or paid product, and let ManyChat handle the automation.
And it worked… technically.
I had reels with thousands of views — some hit 10K, 30K, even one with 800K views. People were commenting INFO left and right.
But here’s what I noticed:
They’d comment INFO but never open the link.
They’d click the link but never grab the freebie.
They’d get the freebie but never open the emails.
And I’m sitting there thinking: Why even bother asking for something you don’t actually want?
The Clients This Strategy Attracted
The few clients who did come through this funnel needed so much handholding.
I still remember one particular client who bought a program that included an audit. She asked for the audit questions… then never answered them. Never replied back. Radio silence.
I was thinking like: Why did you even buy this if you’re not going to use it?
That’s just not how I operate, and honestly, I don’t understand people who do.
Sure, I had some amazing clients over the years, but many were completely misaligned. And I realized it was directly connected to the projector social media strategies I was using and the role I was performing on social media.
The Weekend That Changed Everything
I remember this one weekend, I was sitting at my computer trying to upload emails into my mailing software (because that’s what you do, right? Regular emails to your list?).
And suddenly it hit me: Jesus Christ, I don’t want to do this.
Half these people don’t even open my emails. The other half are just here for free stuff.
I realized I was talking to people who were essentially using me — no energetic exchange, no real investment, no genuine interest in transformation.

And you know what? My undefined Heart Center wisdom finally surfaced and said: This isn’t it.
Why Mainstream Social Media Engagement Tactics Don’t Work for My Energy
Here’s the truth: I don’t want clients who need me to spoon-feed them every move.
If you can’t take the tiniest step on your own — like clicking my website or tapping the link in my bio — you’re probably not ready for my work.
I’ve invested years, energy, and significant money into becoming who I am today. All this knowledge and experience? It deserves energetic exchange, not to be given away to people collecting digital freebies they’ll never use. So it was more than overdue to create my own projector social media strategy.

Recognition vs Attention: The (Mental) Projector Difference
Tactics like “comment INFO” might boost vanity metrics, but they don’t create recognition.
They create attention.
And attention is cheap.
Recognition is priceless.
I realized that when I relied on bait strategies, I gathered people who were more curious than committed. For me as a (Mental) Projector, that was dangerous — I thrive on recognition, not empty engagement.
From all those high-view reels? I had almost no genuine clients.
I realized: I shouldn’t have to beg for attention. I’m a fucking beast.
If you don’t buy, then don’t buy and bye.
What I Do Instead of “Comment INFO” Tricks
Now, I want people to stalk all my content. Seriously.
When I find someone interesting, I dive deep — I read their blog posts, listen to their podcasts, feel into who they are as a person and whether I like their approach. It’s a non-invasive way to truly get to know someone.
That’s what I want my ideal clients to do too.
The right people:
- See my Pinterest post and jump into reading my blog
- Get referred by someone and start devouring my content
- Purchase one of my smaller offers to test the waters
- Email me saying “Tereza, how can I work with you 1:1?”
They don’t need handholding. They’re excited to work with me. They don’t need to be reminded or convinced.
And honestly? That’s so much more beautiful. This is my projector social media strategy that feels so natural.
My (Mental) Projector Social Media Strategy Now
- My website is open and searchable
- My offers are clear and easy to access
- If you’re drawn to my work, you’ll know exactly how to find it
- If you’re not, I won’t chase you
Because here’s what I believe: clients who are meant for me don’t need tricks to get in the door.
So no, I’ll never ask you to “comment INFO” again.
I’m not here to bait you.
I’m here to mirror you.
If it’s meant for you, you’ll feel it.
And you’ll find me.
